It’s been the ultimate gathering since 1975, and trust us, this year did not disappoint.

Now, when we say “trade fair,” we don’t mean your average, dusty, “here’s-our-brochure” event. Oh no, this was more like a massive, high-tech, wood-powered carnival, with machines that could practically build a house on their own and tools that made our sawdust-loving hearts skip a beat. It was like stepping into the future, but with a lot more timber, and a little less time travel.

The team from Readshaw Interiors—armed with curiosity and an absurd amount of business cards—took to Hannover, Germany, to get the latest scoop on everything from cutting-edge woodworking machinery to innovations in materials. Spoiler alert: We didn’t just learn how to make the best bespoke furniture ever, we also learned that people at LIGNA really love their wood.

We marveled at the high-tech machinery that can cut, shape, and smooth wood with the precision of a surgeon. Honestly, some of these machines looked like they were going to take over the world—and we might just let them, if it means we get more time to drink coffee and admire our perfectly crafted furniture. We also got a good look at some of the latest eco-friendly solutions that are making waves in the industry. It turns out, there’s a lot of “green” energy happening in woodworking (and not just the color of the timber), and we’re here for it.

One of the highlights? The live demonstrations. We’re talking machines that move at lightning speed, turning blocks of wood into beautifully crafted products almost before your eyes.
